World War Two building conversion & extension

We have created designs for the alteration and extension of an existing house and outbuilding which sit within the gardens and paddocks of Newmains Holdings. Respecting post-WWII era designs for ex-servicemen, our brief was to bring the house up to modern standards, improving its sustainability and accessibility for the client and their young family. Designs focus on providing strong connections to the gardens through expansive social spaces; The existing outbuilding will be converted into a home office space on a new first floor level, a single storey extension will house a living area whilst a new wildflower roof which connects the buildings promotes biodiversity alongside the natural, breathable and low-embodied energy materials which will be incorporated.
